Services

Services structured around the referral question.

Every engagement begins with a careful discussion of its purpose, authority, roles, timing, available information, and suitability for the practice.

Evaluation and consultation areas

Forensic & court-related evaluations

Each independent evaluation addresses a defined psycho-legal or functional question. The methods, reporting format, and expectations regarding testimony are clarified before acceptance.

Behavioral health assessment

Assessment and diagnostic clarification help referral sources understand behavioral health needs, functioning, and relevant treatment or service considerations.

Parenting capacity & family systems work

Evaluations or consultations may address parenting, family relationships, or caregiving functions when the referral question, jurisdictional requirements, and evaluator qualifications align.

Pre-employment psychological evaluations

Job-related psychological evaluations for public-safety candidates, law-enforcement applicants, correctional personnel, and general employees. The scope and methods are matched to the position, applicable standards, authorization, and specific referral question.

Consultation & records-informed review

Professional consultation, referral formulation, and records-informed reviews are available to agencies and legal professionals when a formal evaluation is neither requested nor appropriate.

What a well-defined engagement includes

An accepted engagement is documented in writing and identifies the referral question, recipient of the work product, expected records or collateral information, anticipated deliverables, timing, fees, and any limits on the work. Assessment methods are selected for the individual case rather than used as a one-size-fits-all package.

For Pennsylvania public-safety candidates

Pennsylvania requirements for certain public-safety and police-certification pathways include a personal examination by a Pennsylvania-licensed psychologist. Candidates may contact the practice directly when their hiring agency, academy, or certification process permits them to select the evaluating psychologist. Before scheduling, the practice confirms the applicable pathway, required forms, authorization, deadlines, and intended recipient of the evaluation.

Important scope note

Not every referral is suitable for every service. Perry-Goffney Forensic Psychology Services LLC screens for potential conflicts, role ambiguity, available information, legal or administrative authority, and fit with current qualifications and capacity before accepting an engagement.
